Job Overview and Responsibilities:
United Airlines’ Analytics and Innovation (Ai) team is focused on driving innovation, solving complex business challenges, and achieving measurable impacts across the enterprise by applying deep cross-functional expertise and advanced analytics. We collaborate with various business and technology partners across the organization, including departments like Airport Operations, Contact Centers, Network Planning, Revenue Management, Digital Products, and Human Resources. Our goal is to influence strategic decisions, optimize business processes, and enhance collaboration across the enterprise, creating an environment where everyone enjoys working.
Data Scientists in the Ai team work closely with business and technology leaders across the company to deploy machine learning-powered solutions that support and automate business processes. The team collaborates with other digital technology teams that possess complementary skills. The primary objectives are to increase revenue, reduce costs, and enhance customer engagement using cutting-edge Machine Learning techniques. Data Scientists play a key role in developing innovative solutions across many of United’s departments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with business teams to identify opportunities for improvement by gathering and analyzing relevant data and information.
- Deliver high-quality machine learning solutions while maintaining comprehensive documentation to ensure seamless workflows and code reusability.
- Effectively communicate insights from projects and deliver clear, professional presentations to team members, team leaders, managers, and stakeholders.

Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing or completed a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Technology, Computer Science, Statistics, Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or Economics.
- Availability for a 6-month internship.
- No prior industry experience is required.
- Strong fundamentals in Machine Learning, including Model Training/Validation, Bagging/Boosting, GBDT, Neural Networks, etc.
- Proficiency in Python and SQL.
