Role Overview:
The Associate Cloud Engineer provides entry-level technical support in a specific technical area, under supervision, to support the delivery and maintenance of production services in the technical operations environment. The role ensures technical and procedural consistency within a team focused on implementing, delivering, and supporting products, systems, and networks. Responsibilities include assisting with initiatives to reduce incident rates, improving service recovery times, and maintaining existing service levels. The role involves compliance with operational standards, procedures, and best practices.

Responsibilities:

  • Be an active member of a cloud engineering team responsible for provisioning public Cloud Native platform infrastructure.
  • Develop and maintain Infrastructure as a Code (IaC) scripts to deploy cloud resources through pipelines and automate application installations.
  • Create, operationalize, and provide runbooks and documentation for cloud pattern services for self-service use by various products.
  • Work closely with the Cloud Center of Excellence (CCoE) and cloud architects to adopt strategies and ensure common technology standards across all cloud implementations.
  • Educate and guide internal teams to build effective Cloud Native solutions.
  • Continually evolve deployment methods and processes to deliver products effectively across all environments.
  • Stay updated with emerging cloud technology trends, including those from open-source and cloud vendors such as AWS, Azure, and GCP.
  • Collaborate with technical staff across various geographical locations in a dynamic agile team environment.
  • Advocate for Cloud Native solutions, challenging the status quo to leverage the full capabilities of the Cloud Platform.
  • Provide technical support to operations or other development teams.
  • Suggest solutions for problems or software enhancements, typically reviewed by a senior developer.
  • Ensure all cloud solutions adhere to internally defined security and compliance standards.
  • Participate in project planning sessions, analyzing development requirements, providing design options, and estimating work.
  • Lead process improvements following investigative, analytic, or diagnostic services.
  • Provide status updates for assigned work within projects.
  • Identify and resolve standard technical and operational problems.
  • Make decisions involving data interpretation, planning work, or refining methods and techniques.
  • Communicate information effectively and ensure understanding.
  • Respond to non-standard customer requests, investigating with assistance as needed.
  • Explain difficult issues and obtain agreement when necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or relevant work experience in cloud engineering.
  • Experience with Python development.
  • Knowledge and experience in IT and public cloud, including Networking, Infrastructure, Security, Storage, and Operating Systems (Linux/Windows).
  • Experience with AWS and/or Azure Cloud infrastructure provisioning, automation, infrastructure as code, and automated application deployment.
  • Experience with core cloud services, including EC2, S3, Azure Virtual Machine, Azure Storage, ALB, Route53, and Azure DNS.
  • Experience with Relational and NoSQL Databases such as RDS, DynamoDB, Aurora, PostgreSQL, and ElastiCache.
  • Experience with AWS and/or Azure Messaging/Events, Firewall, Security, and Identity/Access services.
  • Experience with Serverless technologies such as AWS Lambda and Azure Functions.
  • Experience with monitoring and logging tools such as Datadog, AWS CloudWatch, and Azure.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools such as AWS CodePipeline, Azure DevOps, and GitHub Actions.
  • Excellent problem-solving, troubleshooting, and analytical skills.
  • Good communication and collaboration skills with onsite/remote teams.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
  • Curiosity, passion, and drive to learn new technologies.
  • AWS and/or Azure certifications are preferred.
